SB Works offers affordable business services, co-working space and experienced consultants for local small businesses.

SB Works is a new kind of community development nonprofit serving DC’s small business community. Our location at 5 Points is an accessible alternative for community space for Woodridge, Brookland, Langdon, Eckington, Edgewood, and Michigan Park.

We’re looking for talented, committed volunteers to participate in this fresh way to engage their neighborhood. Volunteering with SB Works is a great way to show your love for Ward 5 and be part of what makes it great. We also occasionally have contract and full-time positions as well as internships available. Internships may be eligible for academic credit.

Check out our current volunteer opportunities below. Contact us for more information on joining the team!

Volunteers Opportunities

We are always looking for talented, passionate, and enthusiastic volunteers to help us protect and promote DC’s small businesses. Below are our key volunteer roles:

Business Coaching

Help local entrepreneurs grow and succeed! Experienced your own business success and ready to pass on your knowledge and expertise to the next generation of local entrepreneurs? Business Coaches provide confidential one-on-one business mentoring to help small business owners meet their goals.

Event Volunteers

Believe the important role small businesses play in DC’s neighborhoods? We do too! Help run events that build local communities and support small businesses, including movie nights, new business kick-offs, and educational opportunities. Meet your neighbors and keep the community strong!

Office Volunteers

We’re growing quickly! Your support can make a big impact in supporting our local business community. We need your help with direct outreach to businesses in need, prepping for programs, and tracking our impact. A great opportunity to introduce yourself to the small business development field while giving back to your community.
